Mira ran a 1K!

About a month ago, my twin S asked me if Mira would be interested in running a 1K. The purpose of the race is to raise money for Children's Cancer Research. They were having a  little 1k for the kids to race in after the big 10K race. The girls are running for a little boy that has eye cancer.
Of course, we got up yesterday morning and it was pouring. I was not sure how Mira would do with rain pounding on her while she was running. By the time we got to the race, the rain did slow down, thankfully.
The girls got to the start of the race and were geared up to run, run the BIG 1k. And they are off... Mira and her little friend E held hands the whole time they ran. It was so cute! Little A ran with S and they were not far behind the other ladies. After the race, each child got a Super Star Medal, a kite and a book.
It was a great turn out for the whole event and what a positive way to raise money for children's cancer research. The little boy that the girls were running for was not at the event. He was sick and they found out that he has HINI, really on top of everything else?!!!
As a parent of 2 beautiful, healthy children,. My heart pours out to this family and what they have to deal with on a day to day basis. I guess, that I will take the whining, the fighting, "mom I need this" and be thankful that we are all healthy! Pray for this family. And give your kids a big hug and kiss today!
Here are the ladies at the race:

Tee -Ball

Well, we decided to put Mira in Tee- ball this summer. This is her first "organized" sports team that she has participated in. We signed her up not knowing anyone on the team. Well, when we pulled up to practice last week, there were three of her friends from daycare that will be playing against her. They are so excited to be playing together , their daycare provider just retired. So, now they have an opportunity to see each twice a week at games.
It is fun to watch the kids try to hit the ball, remember to run to the next base, adjust their clothes while they are in the out field, pick their noses or just decide to run off the field to get a drink.
I am happy that it is a laid back team and there are not "crazy" sports parents. I'm sure there will be plenty in Mira's future sports career.
Mira hit 2 home runs tonight! - you go girl! Here are a few pics of her and her team mates.
Thanks Auntie E for coming out tonight and cheering Mira on.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day Ron!! I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband and the best father to my kids. He loves his T buddy and Mumbi -  he has always been involved from day one, changing diapers, making bottles, feeding babies, rocking babies to sleep. Now, he takes them to the Y for swimming, brings them to the park to throw a ball, works so hard not even taking a break so he can get home for Mira's T-ball practice. Wipes tears, gives them encouragement, is patient and loves them with all his heart!
He truly is an example of what the perfect father should be - we are so lucky! Happy Father's Day! We love you!

"Mothers Day Get together"

For the last few years my close girlfriends and I have celebrated that we are Mothers! So, we get together around Mothers Day and have a day of pampering. Things that we have done in the past, pedicures and dinner, an afternoon at Marsh spa getting massages and dinner, last year we spent the night at the Grand Hotel in DT Mpls, got massages and ordered room service.
As you see, it is all about pampering and good food!
This year we got pedicures and had a fabulous dinner at Wild Fire. The evening started around 4:30pm with my twin S and I getting pedicures. You ask who is my twin? Well, I met S about 1o years ago when we worked as case managers for a county funded program. We both moved to a job in Mpls together, where people literally would get us mixed up! Really? She has blonde curly hair, fair skin, I have black curly hair and tan skin? We have the same giggle and sometimes actually sound like each on the phone! Even our husbands have mistaken our voices!
Back to our fab night.
S and I were the only girls that could make it for the pedicure. We went to a little "nail shop" by her house. It was nice and we were pampered. Not realizing, how relaxed I was. I ended up with an upside down french manicure, glitter on my toes and basically a mural on my big toes! If you want to see ghetto fab - it was all over my toes! So, that was the laughing joke all night  Susie's toes! (I'll have to take a picture of them and show you later).
We met the other ladies for dinner mama Jones and mama M. Mama M invited her other friend this year to our Mothers day dinner. We all had a wonderful time, eating, having a few cocktails and just having fun with each other!
Can't wait till next year ladies!
